Don't start groaning. I am allowed to make gratuitous Star Trek references since the film is out this week (in the UK at least) and I will be going to watch it.

I have studiously avoided reading/listening to any comments/critics or reviews so that I may enjoy it without the encumbrance of expectations.

The only thing which is going to be in my thoughts about my forthcoming cinematic expedition is the choice of snacks with which to accompany my evening.

The hardcore mode is of course no snacks at all although I think that the smallest bottle of water available could be allowed for small sips to be taken as infrequently as possible and with as much discretion as possible.

I have to state immediately that the hardcore mode is not for me. I am going to be sitting for close to 2h in the same spot and some refreshments are going to be needed. If the film proves to be a terrible flop they will double as ammunition to pelt the screen with.
